Of the total planted area, around 28 hectares are planted with white grape varieties (48% Riesling, 25% Gewurztraminer, 13% Pinot gris d'Alsace, 7% Pinot blanc, 3% Muscat à petits grains blancs and 4% Sylvaner). Just over one hectare is planted with red grapes (100% Pinot Noir). The vines are on average around thirty years old. The vines are cultivated in a controlled and environmentally-friendly manner. The grapes are harvested by hand. Domaine Weinbach has been certified organic since 1990. This means that the vines are worked without weedkillers, fertilisers, chemical treatments or insecticides. Since 1998, Domaine Weinbach has also been practising biodynamic viticulture, which is not certified. The vineyards are located on magnificent terroirs such as Clos des Capucins, Altenbourg and the grand crus Schlossberg, Furstentum, Mambourg and Marckrain. Domaine Weinbach produces around 130,000 bottles a year. Among the estate's wines, the Alsace Pinot noir W expresses fine stone fruit aromas. The cuvée Pinot gris Altenbourg has toasty notes. The cuvée Alsace Gewurztraminer SGN has a lovely aromatic complexity. The Altenbourg Quintessence de Grains Nobles is an extremely rare, intense and well-balanced wine. Finally, the Grand Cru d'Alsace Riesling Schlossberg Clos des Capucins cuvée Sainte Catherine, with notes of preserved lemon and a long finish, has good ageing potential.
