Château Meyney produces 2 red wines: the Grand Vin de Meyney, and a second wine called "Prieur du Château Meyney". Château Meyney is a classic AOC St Estèphe wine of very good quality, and during the 1960s to 1980s the estate produced some very good wines that could regularly rival some of St Estèphe's crus classés. Since 2014, the Château has sought the advice of oenologist Hubert de Bouard. Meyney is one of the best wines in the St Estèphe appellation, with a very good 2015 vintage that clearly shows the estate's pretensions. The estate's bottles have an ageing potential of 8 to 25 years in the best vintages of 2015, 2014, 2010, 2009, 2005, 1990, 1989, 1986 and 1982. It is advisable to wait around ten years before enjoying the wine at its best (it can sometimes seem a little rustic and tannic in its early years). The second wine can be drunk more quickly. Mainly produced from the estate's younger vines, its cellaring time is estimated at between 4 and 8 years. Meyney currently represents a safe bet for lovers of good wine, who are looking for the quality of a bottle rather than the prestige of the label, at an affordable price.
