A local appellation in Burgundy, near Volnay and Meursault, in the Côte de Beaune. It produces red wines from Pinot Noir (75% of its production) and whites from Chardonnay. The reds include Premier Crus (9 climats covering 134 hectares), such as Les Duresses and Climat de Val, which faces south-east on the Montagne du Bourdon. More exposed to the cold winds than the vineyards of its neighbour Volnay, its wines are more austere in style.
