The wines of Domaine Marc Colin : purchase at the best price !

Created in the late 1970s by Marc Colin, the domaine was taken over in 2004 by his three children Caroline, Damien and Joseph. The family estate is located 12 km south-west of Beaune (in the Côte de Beaune region of Burgundy), next to Domaine Jean Claude Bachelet. The vineyard covers 19 hectares (16 hectares of white Burgundy + 3 hectares of red Burgundy) on clay-limestone soils on the lower slopes and limestone on the upper slopes (marl-limestone in Santenay). The vines are planted with Pinot Noir (100%), Chardonnay (95%) and Aligoté (5%). Domaine Marc Colin is certified organic.

The most emblematic of Domaine Colin Marc's wines are the red Chassagne Montrachet Vieille Vigne, made from vines planted in 1956 and 1985, the Santenay 1er Cru La Comme and the Saint Aubin 1er Cru, made from vines planted over 50 years ago.  The estate is best known for its whites, in particular the rare and remarkable Grand Cru Montrachet and Batard Montrachet, which have great ageing potential (between 9 and 15 years). The Batard Montachet Marc Colin offers impressive volumes, a fleshy mouth, restrained power and great intensity. The Marc Colin Montrachet expresses great precision on the palate, lovely purity and extraordinary aromatic power - the ultimate... The Marc Colin estate has 4 Chassagne Montrachet 1er crus (Chenevottes, Caillerets, Vides Bourses, Champ Gains) and a village called Encegnière.  The Vides Bourses cuvée is the most powerful and the most elegant. The other cuvées have more balance and finesse. Other cuvées, such as the Puligny Montrachet 1er cru La Garenne and the 2 villages in the lieu-dit: le Trézin and les Enseignères, are not as broad as the Chassagne Montrachet wines, but the Puligny Montrachet 1er cru La Garenne offers fine finesse and precision (ageing potential of 8 to 10 years), while the Puligny Montrachet le Trézin and les Enseignères offer good tension (ageing potential of 4 to 8 years). Finally, the Saint Aubin Marc Colin cuvées (9 in the 1ers crus category and 1 in the village category) offer excellent value for money and, along with those from Domaine Hubert Lamy, are among the best cuvées in the Saint Aubin appellation. Marc Colin's flagship vintages include: 2014, 2012, 2010, 2008, 2005 and 2002. Renowned for its white wines, Domaine Marc Colin has received a very good review from the RVF green guide (2 stars) and 3 stars (out of 5) from Bettane et Desseauve.
