Louis Jadot also owns 84 hectares in Beaujolais (including Château des Jacques); Domaine des Héritiers Jadot, 16 hectares, with superb parcels of Chevalier Montrachet and Corton Charlemagne; Domaine Gagey, 25 hectares, with the Clos Saint Denis Grand Cru, Beaune 1er Cru, Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru and also the 5 hectares of Domaine du Duc de Magenta, including a Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot and a Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de La Garenne. The most recent acquisition dates back to 2008, with the takeover of Domaine Ferret: 18 hectares in the Pouilly Fuissé appellation.
Frédéric Barnier has been in charge of vinification since 2012, and the white Burgundies are fermented directly in barrel and aged on lees (bâtonnage) for 12 to 20 months. They have a very straight, precise profile. The red Burgundies are destemmed, not crushed, with a vatting period of around 25 days before being matured for 12 to 22 months in barrels, a third of which are new. The reds are consistent and have great potential, like the Gevrey Chambertin 1er cru Estournelles St Jacques 2014, superb for its finesse and distinction, or the famous grand cru Bonnes Mares 2014, with its velvety, distinguished tannic structure and textbook balance. A great wine for laying down. Consistency is one of Jadot's strong points, and the critics give the wines from the Jadot estate good tasting scores, so we can recommend them for purchase.
