Chardonnay whites are generally vinified with a modern approach, offering a rather rounded, enveloping character, while the Grands Crus Bourguignons in white are Montrachet, Batard Montrachet, Corton Charlemagne and Chevalier Montrachet La Cabotte. As for the Premiers Crus, the monopoly Beaune 1er cru Clos Saint Landry is a rare parcel of white in the heart of the Pinot Noir region. The Beaune du Chateau 1er cru cuvée is a blend of various premier crus from the Côte de Beaune: Aigrots, Sizies, Sur les Grèves, Teurons and Tuvilains, which are vinified separately before blending to guarantee their unique typicity. Almost all the whites are matured on the lees for a year, with the oak barrels being rolled over without stirring. As for the red wines, the Grands Crus follow one another with Bonnes Mares, Clos de Bèze, Chambertin, Le Corton, Chapelle Chambertin, Charmes Chambertin, Clos Vougeot and Echezeaux. Each parcel is vinified separately, for both Grand Cru and 1er Cru. Beaune 1er cru Clos de La Mousse is a monopoly that the Bouchard estate patiently reconstituted in the 19th century. The domaine's wines are fairly easy to find, the overall standard is good, and Maison Bouchard is renowned for offering an almost complete overview of what Burgundy has to offer.
