White Burgundy wines made from Chardonnay are harvested very ripe, and generally have a round, enveloping, acidic character, dominated by notes of yellow fruit and preserved lemon. Burgundy red wines are 100% destemmed and benefit from longer vatting periods. They have gained in precision since 2010, while remaining far from fashions and certain stylistic effects, but are approaching the high level of the whites from Domaine Latour. The estate offers almost 22 Grands Crus for sale, as well as an impressive number of Burgundy 1er Crus and Village appellations (over 80). The 2015 vintage is a success here, with fullness and a certain generosity, such as the Corton Charlemagne 2015, with its great intensity of body and bouquet, which will go a long way: powerful but very fine and racy; or the Corton Grancey 2015, which has great refinement and aromatic precision, an elegant, deep body, subtle tannins and a lovely perfumed length (keep for 10 to 12 years). The Romanée Saint Vivant Grand Cru 2015 has a sensual, very delicate palate, with a hint of Havana, which may tighten it up at present. It needs time to develop a little patina. The Chambertin 2014 Grand Cru des Héritiers Latour is a 0.8 hectare parcel acquired more than 120 years ago by the Latour family, which lies fairly close to the Latricières Chambertin Grand Cru. This exceptional terroir produces a powerful, complex wine that is full-bodied, deep, racy and elegant on the palate. It has exceptional ageing potential. The wines of Domaine Louis Latour (and those produced by the négociant) are of a high standard overall.
