The story of Domaine Gauby began with Gérard Gauby, who vinified his grapes on 3 hectares after an international career as a rugby player. It was his grandson, also Gérard, who took over the reins and gave Domaine Gauby its resonance among Roussillon wines in the 1990s. Today, accompanied by his son Lionel and his wife Ghislaine, the family is constantly striving to improve and is the driving force behind the Calce terroir, which is home to many of the Roussillon's finest winemakers. Domaine Gauby is located 20km from Perpignan and covers almost 85 hectares, including 45 hectares of vines, mostly red. The oldest vines are up to 125 years old, and Domaine Gauby is surrounded by oak forests and garrigues, a wild, rugged and undulating landscape with slopes up to 300 metres high.

Under Lionel Gauby's leadership, and thanks to their relentless work on the soil and vines, phenolic ripeness is reached more quickly, resulting in wines with a lower alcohol content, as was the case with their delicious 2014. The vines are worked according to biodynamic principles and the wines are neither fined nor filtered.

Domaine Gauby produces elegant, well-structured, dense red Côtes du Roussillon Villages with great ageing potential (Les Calcinaires, Vieilles Vignes or Muntada, blends of grenache noir, carignan, mourvèdre and syrah), as well as Vins de Pays des Côtes Catalanes, which express magnificent aromatic freshness in their whites (Les Calcinaires : muscat, maccabeu, chardonnay, Vieilles Vignes, Coume Gineste: white grenache, grey grenache). Gauby will also delight you with a small but no less fabulous production of Rivesaltes, Caricia made from Grenache Noir.

The wines of Domaine Gauby are benchmarks for lovers of the "Grands Vins" of the Roussillon, and they need time. A few years are not too much to reveal their full potential, and ten to fifteen years is not enough to scare off the great vintages. 2014 was marked by its finesse, while 2015 marks a perfect balance between the richness of Roussillon and elegance. The Vieilles Vignes are dense, elegant and straightforward on the palate, with extraordinary length in the whites and punchy vitality in the reds. With Jasse 2016, which builds on the success of 2015, Domaine Gauby offers you its first vintage of this skin-macerated Muscat.
