Domaine de la Janasse produces wines from the Côtes-du-Rhône, Vins de Pays de la Principauté d'Orange and Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellations over some sixty hectares. This family-run business pays particular attention to the work in the vines, and masters the Grenache grape with virtuosity. The Vieilles Vignes and Chaupin cuvées are the estate's top-of-the-range wines. Vieilles Vignes is a blend of 80% Grenache, 15% Mourvèdre, 3% Syrah and 2% other grapes, aged 25% in barrels and 75% in tuns. Chaupin is a 100% Grenache from hundred-year-old vines. 30% is aged in barrels and 70% in tuns. Unlike many Châteauneuf estates, La Janasse does little whole harvesting.
