Rémy Pédréno is a demanding winemaker who, after a brief spell at Domaine Rostaing, set up Domaine Roc d'Anglade in the Gard in 1999, deciding to produce local wines. The 10 hectares of vines are planted on clay and silica soils on limestone marl. Facing due north, they give Roc d'Anglade wines great freshness, with the purest respect for the fruit. Production is in fact very limited. Roc d'Anglade applies the rules of organic farming and its wines are certified AB.

Like many wines, the IGP Pays du Gard appellation frees the winemaker from the constraints of the appellation. It is above all the terroir and personality of the winemaker that are transmitted to the red, rosé and white wines of the Roc d'Anglade estate, which are among the most sought-after in the Languedoc. Roc d'Anglade wines are characterised by great tension, extreme finesse, freshness, elegance and great ageing potential. Roc d'Anglade, a Vin de Pays du Gard, comes from a stony terroir on clay-silica-limestone soils. The red is a blend of Carignan, Syrah and Grenache. Its nose is finely wooded and very fruity, with hints of blackberry, blackcurrant and wild cherry. On the palate, this Languedoc red from Roc d'Anglade is very tasty, with fine tannins. It therefore has a very strong personality. Made from 70% Chenin, Roc d'Anglade Languedoc Blanc is tasty and delicate, with notes of acacia and white fruit, and is particularly popular with restaurateurs and sommeliers. It can be considered one of the best French whites of the South. Languedoc rosé generally has a tangerine nose and a lighter structure. The cuvée Reserva Especial Roc d'Anglade is a blend of several vintages with the aim of "rejuvenating an old wine with a new-born wine, and educating the innocent with a mature wine". This wine is reminiscent of the one produced by the Vega Sicilia estate in Spain's Ribera del Duero region, which combines some of its vintages to create a truly singular cuvée. This extraordinary wine will delight lovers of full-bodied, complex wines that are not lacking in refinement. Roc d'Anglade Reserva Especial is a long wine with fine tannins and underlying red fruit, underpinned by ripe acidity. A wine destined to age for many years. The quality of the wines from the Roc d'Anglade estate has improved thanks to ageing in casks, and we are eagerly awaiting Rémy Pedreno's next creative ideas.
