Domaine d'Angerville owns almost 11 hectares of Volnay 1er Crus (Caillerets, Champans, Clos des Angles, Clos des Ducs, Fremiets, Mitans, Pitures, Taillepieds) as well as a Pommard 1er cru (Combe Dessus) and a Meursault 1er cru Santenots, an area renowned for its minerality. 3 regional appellations (Bourgogne blanc, Bourgogne rouge and aligoté) complete the range of wines produced by Domaine d'Angerville, which has truly established itself as the ultimate benchmark in the Volnay appellation. François Duvivier, estate manager since 2005, uses total de-stemming for vinification, and the proportion of new barrels used for ageing varies according to the specific characteristics of the vintage. The wine is generally aged for 15 to 18 months, with an average of 20 to 25% new barrels. The delicate, fine nature of AOC Volnay could be distorted by too high a percentage of new oak. The wines are bottled according to the lunar calendar, and always preceded by blending in large volumes several weeks beforehand (without pumping over, so as not to tire the wine). In the great vintages of 2015, 2010, 2009 and 2005, the Domaine du Marquis d'Angerville produced some very fine wines for laying down, which will delight patient wine-lovers, because it is after 10 years that the assertive character of these great Volnay wines is revealed. The estate has been acclaimed by international critics, and its reputation is well-deserved.
