Although Michel Niellon still runs the estate, it is the next two generations who now work in the vineyards and cellars. The Niellon estate covers 6 hectares in Burgundy, two-thirds of which are planted with Chardonnay to produce great white Burgundy wines. Michel Niellon wines are matured in 20 to 25% new oak for all appellations combined. The finest parcels of the Michel Niellon estate are the Chevalier Montrachet and Batard Montrachet grands crus, as well as the Chassagne Montrachet 1er crus Chaumées, Les Vergers and Chenevottes whites, and La Maltroie and Le Clos Saint Jean for the Niellon red Burgundies. Unfortunately, these wines are extremely rare because they are produced in very small quantities.
