At the age of 26, accompanied by his wife Mathilde, he took the gamble of buying vines that were being rented in Delas, in the Northern Rhone Valley, and embarked on the adventure of creating an estate. Until the end of the 1980s, Yves Gangloff sold most of his harvest to the wine trade, taking care to 'do his own thing' by vinifying a very small part of his crop.
Gangloff's red wines have a powerful, refined aromatic intensity and unique depth. The 2 red wine cuvées from Côte Rôtie, Barbarine and Sereine Noire from Domaine Gangloff, are Syrahs with superb balance, a smooth mouthfeel and remarkable length. 2 flagship wines from Côte-Rôtie, acclaimed by the critics and sought after by true wine-lovers. The Gangloff Condrieu white wine is unctuous, with apricot, honey and white flowers, but with an interesting and superb minerality, very much appreciated with the difficult Viognier grape variety. The 2 Saint Joseph Gangloff wines (white with Marsanne and Roussanne; red with Syrah) are of more recent production, but benefit from the same attention as the rest of the range. Finally, the artistic touch of the Gangloff estate does not stop at the contents of the bottles, but also concerns the labels of the Yves Gangloff bottles, since they represent real paintings, all drawn by Pierre Gangloff, a painter who is none other than Yves Gangloff's brother. A true family affair.
