Created in 1950 by Claude Bertagna, the wine estate has belonged to the German family Reh since 1982. Located in the town of Vougeot on the Côte de Nuits, Domaine Bertagna uses sustainable viticulture methods to grow vines on 21 hectares, 20 of which are planted with Pinot Noir and 1 with Chardonnay. Domaine Bertagna produces red and white Burgundy wines in 18 appellations, including five legendary Grands Crus (Chambertin, Clos Saint Denis, Clos de Vougeot, Corton and Corton Charlemagne) and seven Premiers Crus, including a Chambolle Musigny 1er cru Les Plantes, four Vougeot 1er Cru, one Vosne Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts, one Nuits Saint Georges 1er cru Les Murgers and village appellations (Vougeot, Chambolle Musigny, Hautes Côtes de Nuits).

Domaine Bertagna has given its wines a singular identity, recognisable by their deep colour, predominantly fruity aromas and rich texture. The 2004 Corton Grand Cru Les Grandes Lollières delivers notes of black fruit and cocoa; the palate is marked by a powerful body, mellow oak and remarkable length. In the Premiers Crus range, Nuits Saint Georges 1er cru Les Murgers offers a wine of great intensity with notes of stone fruit and a complex, deep finish, while Vougeot 1er cru clos de la Perriere is a monopole producing fine, delicate wines. Domaine Bertagna produces some rare Vougeot whites, in particular the Vougeot 1er cru Les Cras blanc, which has a nose of very ripe fresh fruit (peach and apricot) and honey, and is well-balanced and round on the palate, with a fat, mellow texture. With a range spanning 18 different appellations, Domaine Bertagna offers wine-lovers the chance to buy great red Burgundies at affordable prices.
