Since the sudden death of François Lamarche in 2013, Domaine Lamarche has been managed by his daughter Nicole (who had already been making the wines since 2007), and François Lamarche's wife. A switch from integrated to organic viticulture in 2010 has added an extra touch of elegance to the rather extensive range of Domaine Lamarche wines. There are 4 Grands Crus: La Grande Rue, Grands Echezeaux, Echezeaux and Clos Vougeot. A fine array of 4 superb Vosne Romanée 1er crus: 1er cru Suchots, 1er cru Malconsorts, 1er cru Les Chaumes, and 1er cru la Croix Rameau. A 1er cru in Nuits Saint Georges: Les Cras. Very few estates have such a wealth of vines. Finally, Lamarche also produces a Vosne Romanée Village, a Hautes Côtes de Nuits, a Bourgogne pinot noir, and a white wine (from a small 0.3 hectare plot of Bourgogne Aligoté).
The wines' profile is one of elegance and finesse, with a delicate, floral bouquet. Nearly 80% of the grapes here are double-sorted before destemming, before being gently pneumatically pressed. The wine is matured in at least 60% new barrels. The whole team has a sumptuous heritage of vintages at its disposal, and works to ensure that the best of the vine is reflected in the bottles produced, in a spirit of respect for the terroir. The wines are still available at affordable prices, although the Grand Cru La Grande Rue, by virtue of its exceptional position, pulls all the wines up by their rather recent notoriety, since the decree for this Grand Cru Monopole was only published in January 1992.
