Domaine Fourrier is based in Gevrey Chambertin, Burgundy, and has almost 9 hectares of vineyards, mostly in the Gevrey-Chambertin AOC (with a few additional parcels very close by, in Morey Saint Denis, Chambolle Musigny and Vougeot). Jean-Marie Fourrier took over the estate from his father in 1994, when he was less than 25 years old. But he was no novice: after spending several years in Oregon with the famous Henri Jayer and at Domaine Drouhin, Jean-Marie Fourrier was able to put his experience to good use, consolidating the reputation of Domaine Fourrier and significantly improving the level of production.

Domaine Fourrier does not advocate biodynamic viticulture, but applies natural principles with the greatest respect for its terroir. This philosophy continues in the cellar, and its wines, quite logically, rank among the most refined, balanced and elegant expressions of pinot noir from the famous Cote de Nuits. In Gevrey Chambertin, Domaine Fourrier owns magnificent parcels of Griotte Chambertin Grand Cru and Gevrey's finest 1er Cru, the famous Clos St Jacques, whose vines were planted almost a century ago (it is one of only 5 producers of this majestic 1er Cru). The Fourrier range is completed by the following Gevrey-Chambertin 1er crus: Les Champeaux, Les Cherbaudes and La Combe aux Moines. Also produced are Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru les Gruenchers, 1 Chambolle-Musigny village, 1 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Clos Sorbes, 1 Vougeot 1er Cru les Petits Vougeots and finally 1 Gevrey-Chambertin village. Domaine Fourrier wines are generally matured for 18 months, and the use of new barrels is limited to 20/25% so as not to leave too much of a mark on the wines. Domaine Fourrier wines are all of an excellent standard, often characterised by great aromatic purity. The juices are rich yet elegant, with silky tannins and exceptional length. Domaine Fourrier wines are always well-balanced, with a delicate mouthfeel. Domaine Fourrier has a large number of loyal customers who receive their allocation every year: an opportunity to obtain these rare and precious Fourrier bottles, which are also in great demand on the export market.
