Since 1998, André Ostertag has been cultivating the entire estate biodynamically, adopting an advanced approach to the vines as "interpreters of the interactions between heaven and earth". Despite the mosaic of nuances in the different cuvées produced, the wines are all full of energy, always harmonious and with great depth. As far as the estate's legendary wines are concerned, the Riesling from the locality known as Fronholz is one of the great wines recognised by lovers of Alsace wines, particularly those from the Bas-Rhin region. At the top of the Epfig hill, on a terroir blessed with plenty of sunshine, quartz and silica soil and a clay subsoil, the Riesling Fronholz cuvée has sublime precision and elegance, marked by great minerality. Discreet in its youth, Riesling Fronholz is a wine for laying down that can be enjoyed within 20 years. The Grand Cru Muenchberg, mainly dedicated to the Riesling grape variety, is a parcel located on the top of the Montagne des Moines, facing south and benefiting from a soil of pink sandstone and volcanic sediments. Domaine Ostertag's Riesling Grand Cru Muenchberg is a wine of singular nobility and remarkable length on the palate. With an ageing potential of over 20 years, the Riesling Grand Cru Muenchberg is one of the great Alsace white wines to acquire for your personal cellar. Produced from the same plot of Grand Cru Muenchberg, Pinot Gris A360P is a wine with an atypical profile. This cuvée, which is matured in Vosges oak barrels, was refused the name "Muenchberg Grand Cru" by the approval committees because the wine's atypical profile, marked by wood, was different from those produced from this 17-hectare Grand Cru parcel. So André Ostertag gave his cuvée the name A360P, which is the cadastral code for Pinot Gris. On the nose, Pinot Gris A360P offers a bouquet of complex aromas including yellow fruit, rose, spices and a delicate hint of wood. On the palate, it is lively on the attack, with remarkable balance and elegance, and a surprisingly long finish marked by that distinctive woodiness.
