The vineyard is cultivated according to biodynamic principles, and meticulous care is taken when working the vines. The soil is ploughed with the help of a plough horse, the grapes are harvested by hand and a rigorous selection is made to ensure that only the best grapes are kept. The estate has had a new vathouse since 2005, where the grapes are run off using the gravity principle. The range of wines includes 5 village cuvées (2 Vosne Romanée, 2 Nuits Saint Georges and 1 Chambolle Musigny), 5 Premiers Crus in all: 3 from Vosne Romanée (Les Suchots, Aux Reignots, Les Chaumes) and 2 from Nuits Saint Georges (Clos des Corvées Pagets, Les Procès), and no fewer than 4 Grands Crus from Arnoux Lachaux (Romanée Saint Vivant, Echezeaux, Clos Vougeot, and Latricières Chambertin). Being at the heart of the famous Côte de Nuits, Domaine Arnoux Lachaux produces only red wines. Often made from whole grapes, the wines are full-bodied, richly textured and full of aromatic nobility. Chambolle Musigny Arnoux Lachaux is fine and subtle. The Vosne Romanée Arnoux Lachaux is more powerful, but well-crafted. The Arnoux Lachaux Vosne Romanée 1er cru Les Chaumes has a delicate, spicy nose, with plenty of substance and a velvety, seductive sap. The Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru les Procès, located in the middle of the hillside above the commune of Nuits-St-Georges, reflects the mineral character of the appellation, with an intense, authentic palate and fine tannins. The Echezeaux Arnoux Lachaux, located in the heart of the appellation at Les Rouges du bas, benefits from old vines over 60 years old, and comes across as spirited, combining the delicate mellowness of wild strawberries with a touch of pepper. Finally, the famous Romanée Saint Vivant Arnoux Lachaux, the emblematic grand cru of the Arnoux Lachaux estate, situated just 50 metres below the mythical Romanée Conti, offers a veritable carpet of mellow tannins and pure, nuanced fruit of phenomenal intensity. A wine to be recommended without reservation, if you manage to acquire one of the rare bottles on the market.
