The Joseph Voillot estate is located in Burgundy, south of the town of Beaune, in the village of Volnay in the Côte de Beaune. Jean-Pierre Charlot, Joseph Voillot's son-in-law, has been managing the Voillot estate since 1995; he represents the 6th generation and will soon be handing over to Etienne Chaix, Joseph Voillot's grandson, who has been teaming up with him at the estate for several vintages now. The Joseph Voillot estate boasts a fine portfolio of vines covering almost 9 hectares, spread over the communes of Meursault, Volnay, Pommard and Beaune. No fewer than 13 appellations are produced at the Joseph Voillot estate, and the same care is applied to the entire range of Joseph Voillot wines, in the purest respect for Burgundy traditions.

Every intervention in the vineyards is carefully considered on a parcel-by-parcel basis, in order to respond as effectively as possible to the vineyard's needs, and as often as possible in a way that is virtuous for the environment (the Joseph Voillot estate has High Environmental Value certification). The wines are vinified in a traditional, parcel-by-parcel manner, so that each cuvée experiences the typicity of the vineyard in which it is grown, and the wine is generally matured for 16 to 18 months, with 15 to 25% new oak barrels. Domaine J Voillot's wines are generally lightly coloured, but they really come into their own with age, with a delicate, highly stylish bouquet and great finesse of texture. The range includes a Bourgogne rouge, a Pommard vieilles vignes, a Volnay vieilles vignes, 5 Volnay 1ers Crus (1er Cru Les Caillerets, 1er Cru Les Champans, 1er Cru Les Fremiets, 1er Cru Sous la Chapelle and 1er Cru Taillepieds), 4 Pommard 1ers Crus (1er Cru Clos Micault, 1er Cru Les Epenots, 1er Cru Les Pérerolles and 1er Cru Les Rugiens), and 2 Meursault: Meursault les Chevalières and Meursault 1er Cru les Cras. Note the finesse of Volnay 1er Cru les Caillerets, the density and breadth of Volnay 1er Cru les Champans, the elegance of 1er Cru les Taillepieds and the limestone minerality of 1er Cru les Fremiets. The most structured Pommard in the range is the Pommard 1er Cru les Rugiens. In white Burgundy, the 2 Meursault wines are more mineral in style in the case of the Chevalières and richer and better for ageing in the case of the Meursault 1er Cru les Cras. Domaine Joseph Voillot produces excellent wines for laying down, always at a reasonable price, making them highly appreciated by wine-lovers.
