In 2014, the Stéphane Ogier estate benefited from a new, ultra-modern winery in Ampuis. From his studies in Beaune, Stéphane Ogier has retained a preference for elegance and finesse, and he very quickly drew inspiration from what makes the great Burgundy crus such as the singular expression of a locality, by multiplying the parcel-based cuvées of Côte-Rôtie. One example is the firm, racy Côte-Rôtie Belle Hélène, which unquestionably has the density and substance to integrate its woodiness. In 1999, 2009 and 2010, Belle Hélène received Robert Parker's magical score of 100/100 (putting Belle Hélène from Domaine Ogier on a par with Guigal's 3 famous Côte-Rôtie cuvées: Mouline, Landonne and Turque). In 2004, a luxurious new parcel-based Côte-Rotie cuvée was isolated: Le Lancement, which, with its nobility and assertive style, has established itself as one of the major wines of the Northern Rhone Valley. Domaine Ogier wines are often made from partially destemmed grapes (50% whole grapes in the Lancement cuvée). Among the parcel-based cuvées, Cognet and La Viallière benefit from the freshness of the whole harvest. As a white wine, Condrieu La Combe de Malleval has freshness and a fine salinity on the finish, which contrasts with its richness. The precision of recent vintages, the rigorous selection of plot-based cuvées and the style now displayed by the wines place Domaine Stéphane Ogier among the elite of Rhone Valley wines.
