The Domaine de La Soufrandière is located in Vinzelles, in the Mâconnais region of southern Burgundy. It was acquired in 1947 by the grandfather of the famous Bret brothers, who was a professor of medicine at the time. Since the 2000 vintage, Domaine de la Soufrandière has been run by the 2 Bret brothers (Jean-Guillaume and Jean-Philippe) and until 2016, it comprised 4 ha of Pouilly Vinzelles Climat Les Quarts, 0.5 ha of Pouilly Vinzelles Climat Les Longeays and 1 ha of Mâcon Vinzelles Le Clos de Grand-Père. The vines are between 35 and 80 years old. Since 2016, the Bret brothers' Domaine de la Soufrandière has expanded to include an additional 5 ha of vines, which were already certified organic, making it easier to integrate them into the Domaine de la Soufrandière, which had already been certified biodynamic since 2006.

These include Saint Véran La Bonnode (3.5 ha), Pouilly Fuissé Les Chatenays (0.7 ha) on Vergisson, Pouilly-Fuissé Les Vigneraies (0.50 ha) on the slopes of the Roche de Solutré, and a small parcel of Aligoté (0.3 ha). The labels of the cuvées with low sulphur content are adorned with the words 'Zen'. The Macon-Vinzelles Clos du Grand Père is a powerful, straightforward wine that goes beautifully with food. The St Véran climat La Bonnode is citrusy and salty, with a high level of maturity and concentration. Keeps for at least 5 years. The 2 Soufrandière Pouilly Vinzelles Les Quarts and Les Quarts cuvée millerandée are of a remarkable level, full of energy, ripe and very long. Among the best in the sector. At the same time, Bret Brothers Haute Couture was set up in 2001, offering a wide range of quality wines from the Mâconnais and Beaujolais regions. Bret Brothers buys the grapes and uses its own teams to harvest and vinify them. In all, more than 15 cuvées are marketed each year, including the Mâcon climat Les Crays, with its fine chalky notes, dense and full-bodied, ideal with food. The Macon climat La Roche, whose mineral expression is superbly rendered, with a high level of maturity. We recommend waiting at least 4 to 5 years for it to balance out and develop its fullness harmoniously. A flagship estate, to be recommended in Southern Burgundy.
