However, the Albert Grivault estate is best known for the Meursault 1er Cru "Clos des Perrières", which is its emblematic Premier Cru cuvée, comprising 1 hectare enclosed by walls, run as a monopoly and considered to be the best climat in the appellation, as well as one of the parcels that gives the most power and nobility to this prestigious appellation. As the Albert Grivault estate has always historically exploited the famous "Clos des Perrières" from the outset, the wines produced in the "climat des Perrières" could even compete with certain white Burgundy Grands Crus from other appellations, but Meursault did not claim a "climat des Perrières" as a Grand Cru when the AOCs were created. Some people regret this, and the Perrières 1er Cru climat would probably have had a role to play in such a classification. The wines of the Albert Grivault estate are above all vinified in a fairly pure style, and benefit from the full attention of the estate in their production, which places them at the top of the Meursault hierarchy. The other Premier Cru, simply called Meursault 1er Cru Perrière, is a little less powerful, but just as characteristic of the wines of the Albert Grivault estate. A cuvée Meursault Clos du Murger is also produced at the estate, and offers the advantage of being available for tasting earlier than the 2 Meursault Premiers Crus, which will improve over 8 to 15 years. In terms of vintages and white Burgundies in general, the most famous are: 1989, 1996, 1999, 2002, 2005, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019.  In red Burgundy, the Pommard 1er Cru Clos Blanc offers floral notes with a juicy body, elegant tannins and a finely peppery finish. It can be kept for at least 10 years. Domaine Albert Grivault is one of Meursault's historic benchmark producers, with classic wines that can be laid down for a few years (4 to 7) to allow the balance between substance and ageing to reach its peak.
