Sylvain Dittière set up his domaine La Porte Saint Jean south of Saumur in the Loire in 2010. Not yet 30, this winemaker already has a wealth of experience: Domaine de L'Ecu (Loire), Domaine Marc Tempé (Alsace), Domaine Gauby (Roussillon), Château Yvonne et Thierry Germain (Loire) in Saumur/Saumur Champigny, as well as Le Clos Rougeard. Sylvain is also very close to the legendary Clos Rougeard, as his wife Pauline is none other than the daughter of Françoise and Charly Foucault, and therefore the sister of Antoine Foucault, himself head of Domaine du Collier. In 2010, Porte Saint Jean consists of 3 hectares leased and grapes purchased. In 2011, Sylvain Dittière bought his first parcel, and today La Porte Saint Jean boasts 8.5 hectares of its own vineyards, and has enjoyed rapid growth and success with the great names of the Loire.
