Since 2002, the new generation - Thierry, Céline and David - has continued to run this large 50-hectare estate in the heart of Chateauneuf du Pape. David and Thierry work in the vineyards and cellars, while Céline is in charge of management and commercial relations. As the Clos Mont Olivet vineyard is very fragmented, the style of the Clos du Mont Olivet wines remains traditional, and the wines can sometimes be reserved or even closed in their youth. With the passage of time, a beneficial ageing period of 10 to 15 years can bring out their finesse and brilliance, as well as revealing their full potential for subtlety and refinement. The wide range of Clos Mont Olivet wines includes a Vin de France called 'La Sabonite' (Grenache), 3 IGP du Gard wines, 'La Quête': a pure Cinsault, 'Confluences': a blend of Carignan and Grenache, and since 2016, 'Rive Droite': a red wine made from grenache, carignan, syrah, merlot and mourvèdre, 2 AOC Côtes du Rhône wines, including the floral white, and finally 4 Chateauneuf du Pape vintages, including a spirited, generous but superbly distinguished white. As for the red CDPs, the Chateauneuf red is of an excellent standard, the cuvée being made from plots that produce fine, fruity wines and are therefore accessible at a younger age, and finally the famous Cuvée du Papet from Clos Mont Olivet, made from very old Grenache vines (dating back to 1901) + mourvèdre and syrah, and produced only in the most favourable years. The Cuvée du Papet is very rich, so the juice has more sap and more mache to balance its power. Finally, Clos du Mont Olivet offers 3 cuvées of Lirac to round off the range: 1 red Lirac and 1 rosé Lirac + the famous, highly concentrated Cuvée Marie Jausset (in homage to the grandmother), which for AOC Lirac is the counterpart of Cuvée du Papet in Chateauneuf du Pape. The best vintages for the Chateauneuf du Pape appellation are 1985, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1995, 1998, 2000, 2005, 2011, 2015 and 2017. All the wines have great ageing potential, and it is strongly recommended that Chateauneuf du Pape wines be left to age for around 10 years.
