In just a few years, the estate has gone from obscurity to the limelight, and now all wine-lovers in the know are snapping up Eric Pfifferling's wines, which have gone from strength to strength. Until 2002, Eric Pfifferling was in fact a beekeeper and winemaker, but he took his grapes to the cooperative. When the floods of 2002 swept away his hives, he decided to leave the cooperative and sign his first vintages as L'Anglore. He chose to grow his vines organically (in accordance with ECOCERT specifications), abandoning the use of chemical treatments. The soil is worked to preserve life and the balance between 'vines' and 'weeds', and adapted to each terroir and climate. The vines are mainly planted with grenache, cinsault, clairette, carignan, mourvèdre, syrah and bourboulenc. Since his 2 sons joined him, the Domaine de l'Anglore has continued to develop, and although it is mainly located in the Tavel AOC (an AOC reserved exclusively for Rhone rosé), the estate's red wines are produced in Vin de France and Lirac. The grapes are harvested by hand and placed in small crates. After a period of maceration, they are vinified as whole bunches by carbonic maceration. The wines obtained are not filtered or mechanically pumped, so as to respect and enhance their natural, living characteristics. The low yields do not prevent it from producing perfectly balanced rosé wines, sometimes considered to be the finest in France. A far cry from the pale rosés of Provence, Domaine de l'Anglore's Tavel is perfectly suited to its sandy-silt soils, with its distinctive light ruby-red colour. Luscious yet subtle and full-bodied, Tavel de l'Anglore is a singular wine, neither red nor rosé, in fact the colour of a clairet, but when you taste it, you can't help but love it: it's dense and deep, but also extremely fresh. This Tavel rosé can be kept for 2 to 4 years. The Cuvée Nizon is made from a base of hundred-year-old Grenache Noir grapes, plus a little Cinsault, Clairette and Aramon, and is vinified in whole bunches, under C0², then in concrete vats or demi-muids, with very little sulphur added before bottling. L'Anglore's fine, expressive cuvées are a must for lovers of natural wines and gourmet rosés.
