Initially, the vines were rented, but Lise and Bertrand decided to buy them in 2011. The husband and wife now share the work, with Bertrand in charge of the vines and the cellar, while Lise is mainly responsible for marketing the wines and managing Domaine Jousset. With the help of 2 employees, Lise and Bertrand have gradually stabilised the surface area of the vineyard at around 8 hectares, in particular by concentrating the perimeter of their 18 plots planted mainly with chenin, but also with chardonnay, grolleau and gamay. The Lise and Bertrand Jousset estate has been certified organic since 2008, eliminating all weedkillers, pesticides and fertilisers. The Jousset estate is moving towards biodynamic viticulture, and in the cellar, the work is also very natural and low-intervention, with parcel-based vinification. The reds undergo carbonic maceration to optimise their freshness and fruitiness. The wines are aged in casks, but with a very low proportion of new wood (maximum 10%), so as not to mask the natural character of the wines, each of which expresses its own terroir. Lise and Bertrand Jousset produce around ten cuvées, reflecting the diversity of their terroirs. Their wines are straightforward, generous and full-bodied, but with formidable precision, combining freshness and complexity. The Montlouis Premier Rendez-vous comes from 8 different plots of flinty clay on limestone bedrock. It is vinified in barrels for 10 months. On tasting, you'll discover a fruity, juicy wine that's both tasty and delicious. Perfect with white meats or goat's cheese. A Premier Rendez-Vous Version Longue is available, which is fuller because it is aged for 12 months and is unfiltered; it will be exquisite with fine fish. The Montlouis cuvée Trait d'Union comes from a parcel of vines around 70 years old, and is an off-dry wine containing around 24 grams of residual sugar, made from over-ripe grapes sorted on the vine. Aged in barrels, this mellow wine is full-bodied and goes well with foie gras or mature goat's cheese. Montlouis Clos aux Renards comes from the oldest parcel of old vines (some of which are almost a hundred years old). The 1.5 hectares of this plot are worked with horses, and yields are tiny (around 20 hl/Ha). This cuvée, which resembles a grand Loire white destined for the finest gastronomic pairings, exudes fruity, exotic aromas and noble floral notes of acacia blossom. It is fresh, dense and fruity on the palate, yet smooth and very long-lasting. It can be kept for at least 8 years.
