Domaine Buisson Charles, located in Meursault, was founded in 1960 by the Buisson family, and is now run by Catherine Buisson (daughter of Michel Buisson) and her husband Patrick Essa. This is the start of preparations for the next generation, as Louis Essa, Catherine and Patrick's son, has embarked on his first vinifications with the 2020 vintage, under the watchful but benevolent eye of his parents.

While the heart of Domaine Buisson's vineyard, covering around 8 hectares, is still located in the Meursault and Volnay terroirs, the range of wines offered for sale has been considerably expanded since 2011, with the purchase of grapes from the best terroirs (Chablis, Corton and Corton Charlemagne, Puligny Montrachet and Chassagne Montrachet, as well as 2 Grands Crus on the Côte de Nuits in the commune of Gevrey Chambertin), so as to be able to offer an extensive range (close to thirty references) to the customers of Domaine Buisson Charles. All the wines are now produced under the Buisson Charles brand. The wines have excellent ageing potential, thanks to deliberately low yields, not least because of the great age of the vines (up to almost 90 years). In the Meursault range, the 1945 Meursault Vieilles Vignes is fat and opulent, full-bodied and voluminous, with almond aromas and well-integrated oak. Drink within 5/7 years. The minerality is more pronounced in the cuvée de Meursault Tessons, with delicate aromas of preserved lemon, an intense stony sensation on the palate and plenty of salinity on the finish. The Meursault Premiers Crus Charmes, Goutte d'Or and Bouches-Chères are dense, broad and ripe, with juicy fruit, and can be kept for 8 to 12 years without fear. They will make excellent table companions for noble fish and shellfish in sauce. As a Grand Cru, Corton Charlemagne has a captivating nose of white fruit and flowers, with mineral, toasted and spicy notes. The palate is precise, with a superb balance between density, tension, freshness and finesse. The finish is long-lasting and very salivating. As far as red Burgundy wines are concerned, Domaine Buisson Charles is currently offering the following wines in addition to its Bourgogne Hautes Coutures, a fine entry-level wine: 3 Premiers Crus from Volnay (Champans, Fremiets and Santenots), 3 Grands Crus from Corton (Clos du Roi, Bressandes and Perrières), a Pommard, a Chapelle Chambertin Grand Cru and a Chambertin Grand Cru (from the 2020 vintage). All the reds are worthy of praise, even if great lovers of whites will sometimes show a preference (probably historic) for the whites of Domaine Buisson Charles. It has to be said that it is above all the great white wines that have contributed to the excellent reputation of Domaine BUISSON Charles.
