Méo Camuzet

The Domaine Meo Camuzet is situated in Vosne-Romanée and regroups numerous appellations including the Grands crus Corton (Clos Rognet, La vigne au Saint, Perrières), Richebourg, Echezeaux, Clos Vougeot and the 1er crus in Vosne Romanée (Brulées, Chaumes, Cros Parentoux), Nuits Saint Georges (Argillas, Boudots, Murgers, Perrières), Chambolle Musigny (Cras, Feusselottes) et Fixin "Clos du Chapitre". Their 17.2 hectares, of which 3.6 are of white burgundy and farmed "raisonnée" – meaning with as less chemical as possible. The reds wines spend on average 17 months in barrel (less for the whites). The grands crus Corton, Richebourg, Echezeaux, Clos Vougeot and Vosne Romanée 1er cru "Cros Parentoux" are amongst the most prestigious of the Meo Camuzet Estate. The Meo Camuzet Corton Perrières 2013 is structured, powerful, long, distinguished with elegant tannins (17/20 B&D). Meo Camuzet Corton Rognet 2008 has a light robe with an admirable nose of violettes and flowers, but especially of great texture and transparency of origin. The old vine origin is very much in evidence. For the Meo Camuzet Clos de Vougeot 2014, the terroir speaks, the juice is splendid, uncommonly distinguished, refined and of a rare energy, with notes of smoke and graphite. The finish resembles an athlete on the starting blocks before the race. Impressive. The Meo Camuzet Richebourg 2014 enchants the nose with blueberries, blackberries and blackcurrant. The mouth is of a remarkable density, built on fine, grippy tannins (noted 16/20 by Bourgogne Aujourd'hui). The Meo Camuzet Vosne Romanée 1er cru "Cros Parantoux" 2014 is flattering, expressive, supple as are the 2014's in general. Vibrant, serious tannins expose the minerality of that stony terroir. The Meo Camuzet Echezeaux 2014 is rich and affirmed. A well-constructed, full-bodied wine, distinguished and powerful, at the start of its life. These wines can age over 10 and 20 years whereas the Meo Camuzet Nuits Saint Georges 1ers crus (Murgers, Boudots, Perrières), Vosne Romanée 1er cru (Brulées, Chaumes) and Fixin 1er cru "Clos du Chapitre" mostly age between 7 and 12 years. The Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er cru "Murgers" 2015 displays a pretty smokiness, fine tannins, lightness and subtlety. The oak is slowly integrating, revealing even more delicateness. The Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er cru "Aux Boudots" is generous, aromatic, sensual, in the spirit of the climat, dense and with a bright future. The Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er cru "Les Perrières" 2008 is luxuriously oaked, forming a startling contrast with the firmness and tension of the wine, bubbling with energy and the complex tannins of a Grand vin. The Vosne-Romanée 1er cru "Les Brulées" 2011 has a deep colour, noble oak and great class both on the nose and mouth, a classic of the vintage and of Vosne Romanee. Meo Camuzet Vosne Romanee 1er cru "Les Chaumes" 2013 has complete tanins, firmer than its peers, but all potential. The Fixin 1er cru "Clos du Chapitre" 2014 is a distinguished wine, profound, beautifully reflecting the vintage, with the ambition the climat allows. The 3rd wine of the Domaine Meo Camuzet is the Chambolle-Musigny 1er cru "Les Feusselottes". In 2009, the wine has a liquorish nose, a rich and harmonious attack but slightly tight in the finish due to an oak that has yet to integrate.

The finest red vintages for the Meo Camuzet Estate were : 2015, 2012, 2010, 2009, 2005, 2002. For the whites, the Bourgogne Hautes Cotes de Nuits "Clos St Philibert" (a monopole of 3.5 hectares) is to be kept for a shorter period, between 3 and 4 years. The style is salty and fresh, distinguished, long and generous. The Domaine Meo Camuzet received a very good rating from B&D (4 stars out of 5) and 2 stars out of 3 from the RVF.
