This village near Beaune in the Côte d'Or produces mainly Pinot Noir red wines, which are pleasant and fruity, and less full-bodied than its neighbours Pommard and Volnay. It includes a number of Premier Crus, including Les Peuillets, Les Narbantons, Les Rouvrettes and others on sandy soils, and Les Lavières and Les Vergelesses on stonier soils. A few Chardonnay whites are also produced here, and the largest producer is Chandon de Briailles.
