The wines of Domaine Anne Gros

Located in the town of Vosne Romanée in the heart of Burgundy, the history of the estate begins in 1951 when Louis Gros decides to create his vineyard. In 1984, the Louis Gros estate fragmented into three areas (including AF Gros and Gros Frère et Soeur) taken over by the winemaker's children. One of the sons created the François Gros estate, which was taken over in 1988 by his daughter Anne Gros and finally became renamed the Anne Gros estate in 1995. The Côte de Nuits vineyard covers 6.5 hectares on clay-limestone soils, including 5 hectares in red wines (100% Pinot Noir) and 1.5 hectares in white wine (100% Chardonnay).

Alongside major estates such as Mugneret Gibourg, Méo Camuzet or Romanée Conti, the Anne Gros estate produces Grands Crus de Bourgogne on renowned parcels ranging from Clos Vougeot, via Richebourg to Echézeaux. With a Robert Parker rating of 95/100 for her Richebourg Grand Cru 2005 or 92/100 for Clos Vougeot Grand Cru Maupertui 2005, Anne Gros nevertheless diversified her production on village appellations such as Vosnes Romanée Les Barreaux, Chambolle Musigny Combes d'Orveau and Hautes Côtes de Nuits. The Anne Gros estate cultivates the vine with respect for the soil by adopting an organic approach like most of the large neighbouring estates such as that of Romanée Conti. The signature of the Anne Gros estate is marked by aging with significant percentages in new barrels: 80% for Grands Crus, 50% for village appellations and 30% for regional appellations which bring aromatic complexity, fat and structure to wines. For her Grands Crus in red, Anne Gros produces wines from old vines. This is particularly the case of Clos-Vougeot, whose vines were planted in 1904 and bring precision and remarkable elegance to the wine. The Richebourg 2014 is certainly the most refined and deep of the cellar with a finesse and a sublime depth, rated 17/20 by Bettane and Dessauve. The excellence of the domain for its high-end wines is also valid for its wines of communal and regional designations such as its Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits, Bourgogne Les Pasquiers, Les Glapigny or Les Champs d´Argent sur Vosne Romanée.
