The Georges Descombes estate also owns some fine plots of land in the Brouilly, Chirouble, Régnié and Beaujolais village + Beaujolais appellations. Domaine Georges Descombes offers a fine range of wines, each expressing the full potential of their respective terroirs. The purity and straightforwardness of the taste of the different wines produced are the hallmarks of the Georges Descombes estate, whose vines are mostly tended according to organic principles. On very steep plots of land that don't allow ploughing, we use the minimum amount of weedkiller possible. To preserve the freshness and delicacy of the fruit, as well as the identity and minerality of the terroir, the wine is vinified in concrete, stainless steel or epoxy vats (materials that are neutral in taste). The wine is then matured for 8 to 9 months in barrels aged between 2 and 10 years for the Vieilles Vignes cuvées. The other cuvées from the Georges Descombes estate are matured in concrete vats. It should be noted that the "Vieilles Vignes" cuvées are generally marketed 1 year after those of the majority of Morgon producers. Georges Descombes explains that he prefers to wait until the wines have fully stabilised before releasing them from the estate, which is sure to please impatient tasters, who will then not have to suffer the backlash of bottling, with wines that are sometimes tricky to taste during the first few months. In the range of wines offered by Domaine Georges Descombes, Brouilly Vieilles Vignes is the archetypal Beaujolais Pleasure, made from a selection of the best old vines of the Descombes estate, and whose longer ageing in wooden containers gives it a very silky patina of tannins. The nose is very fruity, with fine notes of black and red fruit (raspberry, morello cherry), and the texture is very silky, delicious and beautifully fresh on the palate. The Cuvée de Fleurie Vieilles Vignes from Domaine Georges Descombes has an attractive ruby-red colour, with a very delicate bouquet of red and black fruit and floral notes. On the palate, the wine is supple and fine, with a sapid finish.Domaine Descombes' cuvée of Morgon Vieilles Vignes is almost entirely located in the highly reputed "Corcellette" climat of the Morgon appellation, with plots placed at the top of this climat, whose relative altitude provides extra freshness, invaluable in today's sunny vintages. This superb wine is marked by the generosity of its fruity aromas, its satiny texture on the palate and a fine mineral structure. This emblematic cuvée from the Georges Descombes estate has a deep, intense nose with lovely notes of cherry and strawberry, developing a fine acidity on the palate that perfectly balances the intensity of the fruit, and prolongs the pleasure with its long-lasting elegance. This wine can be enjoyed for 7 to 8 years without any problems, as the class and ageing capacity of this signature cuvée of the domaine are renowned.
