Domaine des Lambrays

Three red Burgundy wines are produced, including the first wine, the Clos des Lambrays, which has almost a total monopoly on this Grand Cru. Its fine style is less radiant than its neighbour’s, the Clos de Tart, making it an affordable wine in its youth. However, you should let it age in the cellar so that it reaches its best in the next 15 years. It’s a well-designed wine which is quite powerful, with hints of dried herbs on the finish that will integrate over time. For its best vintages, such as 2002, 2005, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2015, the Clos des Lambrays got remarkable marks: 19/20 from the famous Revue des Vins de France, and 18.5/20 from Bettane & Dessauve. The Domaine des Lambrays estate produces 2 red wines, the Morey Saint Denis Premier Cru Les Loups, and the Morey Saint Denis. The latter comes from vines located a few meters away from the Clos des Lambrays, and has been deemed a remarkable wine in 2015, thanks to its long, deep character, and typical tannins, giving a strong sense of place. It’s a wine to keep in the cellar to allow it to age perfectly well.  The Morey Premier Cru les Loups is more complete and complex than the Village, even if the whole character is similar. It comes from the young vines of the Grand Cru des Lambrays. The estate, which also has 0.66 hectares of white grape varieties, produces two white premier cru in the Designation of Origin Puligny Montrachet: le Clos du Cailleret and les Folatieres. These wines of great aromatic finesse, with well-integrated wooden notes, will show their great length and remarkable intensity, particularly for the 2008 vintage. 

The price of a Clos des Lambrays bottle almost doubled between 2007 and 2015, but remains significantly lower than a bottle of clos de Tart, its most famous neighbour, especially if it's a Clos des Lambrays 2012, which a great Burgundy vintage.
