Communal designation of Cote de Beaune, in Cote d'Or - Burgundy, Meursault covers 371 ha in white (Chardonnay) and 13 ha in red (Pinot Noir). It includes 21 premier Crus of white wine, including Meursault 1er Cru Bouchères, Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières, Meursault 1er Cru Charmes, Meursault 1er Cru Perrières, Meursault 1er Cru Poruzots. Located on limestone marl soils and at an altitude of around 260 m, the best Meursault are characterized by their mineral notes of flint, aromas of toasted almonds and hazelnuts, hawthorn, verbena in their early youth. Butter, honey and citrus fruits also stimulate the nose. On the palate, they are usually rich, a bit fatty and very balanced.
