A winemaker with many fine vintages
The wines of Domaine François Villard : purchase at the best price !
A former chef, François Villard has risen to the head of a 25-hectare estate in the Northern Rhône in just 25 years. He likes to harvest late in order to obtain good concentrations of grapes. If you can wait a few years, his Saint-Joseph Reflets will surprise Syrah lovers. His Côte-Rôtie Le Gallet Blanc is probably the best value for money in the appellation. He has no qualms about using 50% whole grapes and 1% Viognier. La Brocarde includes 13% viognier but only 35% whole grapes. The Brocarde is a benchmark among the great Côte-Rôtie wines. Both cuvées are aged for 18 months in barrel before being released on the market. Terrasses du Palat and De Poncins are also emblematic Condrieu cuvées. Villa Pontciana, also from this appellation, is so Burgundian in style that it is unlike any other wine.
