Founded in 1851 and based in REIMS, the Charles HEISIECK House was bought in 2011 (at the same time as Piper Heidsieck) by the DESCOURS family, but with a different ambition, which was to “boost” this brand which was rather associated with the great gastronomy. The vineyard covers around sixty hectares distributed between the Marne and the Aube, and Charles Heidsieck also buys grapes. The current cellar master is Cyril Brun (previously at Veuve Clicquot), and the bet has been successful, because Charles Heidsieck amply deserves to be considered one of the most brilliant brands today.

It owes this status to the superb definition of each of its Champagne as well as to the smooth and suave roundness which is very characteristic of the "Charles Heidsieck style". The style is not based on power, tension or minerality, but rather on race and elegance, as well as beautiful regularity. Champagnes are dominated by Chardonnay, and the range is safe and well in place. Champagne Brut Réserve expresses a great roundness on toasted notes with fat on the palate and a vinous style, carried by a large proportion of reserve wines.

Champagne Rosé is of exquisite refinement, accompanied by a very fine bubble, and a very long length and aromatic persistence. The cuvée Blanc des Millénaires 1995 (Chardonnay only) displays a delicacy of taffeta, while having now switched to a register that is both evolving and complex, whose length and aromatic subtlety remain unique. The follow up vintage is the 2004. Note that in 2018, Maison Charles HEIDSIECK relaunches a new Blancs de Blancs cuvée. All these wines form Grands Champagnes de table, whose production remains limited, to the delight of amateurs.
