Stephane and Benedicte Tissot's estate is among the most beautiful wine estates of France, and Stephane's low-interventionist approach allows the vineyard to express all the geological diversity of the Jura terroir, like in the La Mailloche, En Barberon, and Curon terroirs' wines. Benedicte and Stephane Tissot want their wines to be as natural as possible. These wines must display their full identity and terroir, as well as their history and their character.
This search for flavour diversity led to the vinification of 28 different wines: White Juras and red Juras, from Arbois (Trousseau Singulier, Poulsard VV, Chardonnay Les Graviers, Sous la Tour…), Cotes du Jura, Chateau Chalon, but also some Vin Jaune (yellow wine called En Spois), and Cremant du Jura, Macvin and other dessert wines. thanks to their constant focus on precision and purity, Stephane and Benedicte Tissot wines are now considered among the best world producers, and even listed in the top 10 winemakers of the year in the Bettane & Desseauve Guide.
Just like the Savoie wines, the Jura wines are popular thanks to dynamic winegrowers like Benedicte and Stephane Tissot, Julien Labet, and the world famous ones that preceded them, Pierre Overnoy, Jean François Ganevat, Jean Bourdy, Jean Macle, Domaine de la Pinte, Pignier etc. Unfortunately, some vintages are getting very rare, and the Jura region is experiencing recurrent extreme weather hazards, like in 2017. But that won’t stop Stephane from testing, experimenting and pleasing us with his creations, like the gorgeous Chardonnay Rose 2018 (made from a rare variety of pink Chardonnay grapes). His Chardonnay Les Bruyeres, which has the same name as the Stephane Tissot vin jaune (yellow wine), is an incredibly deep, rich and smooth wine. The ageing process for this wine is extremely well-controlled, and the vines from which it’s made of were planted between 1938 and 1973 on a very mineral terroir. Benedicte and Stephane Tissot are purists, and their wines are their best achievements. They are precise and attentive winemakers, something that can be seen… or heard on their website, as the sound of the fermentation of the Savagnin Cuvee Bruyeres 2006 can be heard as a background music…
