The story of Champagne Pierre Trichet begins in 1947, with Antoinette Trichet who, alongside her husband Edmond, planted the first vine stocks in the village of Trois-Puits, at the gates of Reims. They thus laid the foundations of a family adventure that would span generations. In 1961, Thérèse Didier and René Trichet, Antoinette's son, continued this work by continuing the planting and taking root in this exceptional terroir. In 1971, they produced their first Champagne cuvée, marking the beginning of Maison Trichet-Didier.
The estate experienced a new milestone in 1989 when Pierre Trichet, Antoinette's grandson, took over the reins. With passion for his craft and love for his terroir, he developed the vineyard to reach eight hectares in Premier and Grand Cru. In 2015, he modernised the labels by adding his name to create "Champagne Pierre Trichet", while adding "Hand-crafted Champagne since 1947", a tribute to his ancestors and the tradition that shaped the house. Today, supported by an experienced director, Stéphane Dubois, Pierre Trichet continues to innovate while preserving the house's values.
The estate is located in the prestigious vineyard of the Montagne de Reims, famous for its rich limestone soils and exposed slopes, ideal for growing Champagne grape varieties. The vineyards extend across several communes classified as Premier Cru and Grand Cru, notably Trois-Puits, Montbré, Rilly-la-Montagne, Ludes, Cormontreuil, and the Grand Cru of Verzy. This unique terroir gives Champagne Pierre Trichets an aromatic profile marked by finesse and balance, highlighting the typicity of each grape variety.
Pierre Trichet favours sustainable viticulture, with partial grass cover to preserve biodiversity, and environmentally respectful practices. The estate also distinguishes itself by introducing uncommon grape varieties such as Pinot Blanc, a forgotten variety that Pierre Trichet has recently reintroduced to enrich the diversity and depth of his cuvées.
At Champagne Pierre Trichet, vinification is a true work of art. The grapes are carefully selected and hand-harvested, ensuring impeccable quality from the start of the process. The wines are then crafted and aged in cellars dug eight metres deep into the chalk, providing ideal conditions for aroma development and wine maturation.
During blending, Pierre Trichet favours wines with rich profiles, with a roundness in the mouth that leaves a lasting impression. "I like wines with nose, relief, curves. I'm not looking for absolute perfection, but character," says Pierre. His artisanal approach creates champagnes with fruity and generous notes, reminiscent of fresh fruit baskets. Pierre Trichet ensures that each cuvée expresses its unique character, without sacrificing to the pursuit of uniform perfection.
